The Office for Hispanic Initiatives

Our Story...Nuestra Historia...

The Office for Hispanic Initiatives, established in 2018, is dedicated to upholding the university’s allegiance to promoting an inclusive environment to support the success of all Hispanic/Latinx students, faculty, staff, and communities.  As the largest Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) in the state of New Jersey, Montclair State University is strategically situated to further our knowledge and understanding about Hispanics/Latinx in N.J., the region, and the U.S. as an integral component of our social fabric. The office is led by Dr. Katia Paz Goldfarb, Associate Provost for Hispanic Initiatives and International Programs. Some of our programs include the:

  • Hispanic Student College Institute (HSCI), an immersive college preparedness summer institute for high school rising juniors and seniors that focuses on the college application process, transition to college and academic success. Learn more about HSCI here.
  • Hispanic Heritage Month - With our campus partners, we offer a calendar of in-person and virtual events for Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15) for the Montclair State community.  See what we offered in 2022 here.
