WMSC: Champion Student Broadcasters
Support Award-Winning Students
Your gift directly supports Montclair students by providing undergraduates who volunteer their time at the campus radio station and maintain good academic standing with access to the WMSC Excellence in Radio Scholarship and conferences that connect them to broadcasters nationwide and open doors to jobs in markets beyond New York.
90.3 WMSC FM just earned its seventh Marconi Award nomination for "College Radio Station of the Year". What makes this college radio station extraordinary is how we achieve success and national recognition. While other campus stations heavily rely on volunteers and on-air pros, WMSC operates on pure student passion. This fall alone, we have 975 student members from several majors pouring their hearts into 162 of our 168 weekly broadcast hours, creating award-winning radio with creativity, determination, and a modest budget.
These talented broadcasters are building the skills that will define tomorrow's media landscape – podcasting, streaming, content creation – but many are working multiple jobs to afford school, limiting their ability to seize career-making opportunities.
WMSC Excellence in Radio Scholarships and grants toward conference registrations and travel give students access to broadcasters nationwide and open doors to jobs in markets beyond New York. These networking experiences launch careers, but they're expensive and often out of reach for students already stretched thin.
Your gift – whether it's $10 or $1,000 – directly supports the next generation of storytellers, journalists, and media innovators who will shape how we consume information and connect with each other.
