The 2019 Montclair State field hockey team finished another successful season with a 10-7 record while earning a national top-20 ranking in Division 3 for the first six seeks of the season. Montclair State University opened the season with five consecutive wins, shutting out MIT, New Paltz, and Cortland. The 2019 season featured many excited wins for the Red Hawks - including back to back shootout victories in early October vs. Muhlenberg College and York College.
Following the conclusion of the season, four Red Hawks were recognized with All-NJAC honors. Senior Kelly Watson and sophomore Janell Harden received honorable mention recognition. Junior Lizzy Cimilluca was named to the NJAC 1st team and senior Nicole Andriani was named Goalkeeper of the Year and 1st team. Cimilluca and Andriani also earned Regional All-American honors. Andriani was also named a 1st team All-American and became the first player in program history to earn multiple All-American honors.
Off the field the team posted the highest cumulative GPA among all of the athletic programs at Montclair State.
There are so many reasons to be proud of the Montclair State field hockey program. We have many strong traditions of success surrounding the team. Our alumni group is passionate and proud of the current team and provides ongoing support year after year. Our current team is a group of incredibly hard-working young women who strive to carry on our traditions of success and exceptional achievements on the field and in the classroom.
