The Montclair State field hockey team finished yet another successful season with a 15-4 record while remaining in the top 10 rankings in Division III in 2018. The Red Hawks earned one of the five at- large bids and hosted a first round NCAA tournament contest against Smith College, making it their third straight appearance and eighth overall.
Montclair State University opened the season with seven consecutive wins, shutting out DeSales, Cortland and Stevens Institute of Technology. The Red Hawks went 5-1 in NJAC conference play only falling to No. 3 Rowan University, however marked one of its biggest victories with an overtime win against No. 7 The College of New Jersey. This was MSU's first win versus TCNJ since the 2013 NJAC Championship and its first in Ewing since 2012.
The 2018 squad matched the 2013 team's conference record of 5-1, while surpassing their conference record of 4-2 in 2017.
Off the field the team posted the highest cumulative GPA among all of the athletic programs at Montclair State.
There are so many reasons to be proud of the Montclair State field hockey program. We have many strong traditions of success surrounding the team. Our alumni group is passionate and proud of the current team and provides ongoing support year after year. Our current team is a group of incredibly hard-working young women who strive to carry on our traditions of success and exceptional achievements on the field and in the classroom.
