Thanks to your generosity, we've not only hit - but surpassed - our goal of $1,500! Thank you for your support of this awesome initiative. Because of rock stars like you, we have decided to stretch our goal to $2,000 - so please continue to spread the word and share the campaign!
Thanks to you, we've surpassed the halfway mark to our campaign goal! We are so excited about getting closer to our goal that we unlocked exclusive content for you! Gold-Coast indie-rocker Michael McCartney joined WMSC's World College Radio Day with an exclusive at-home performance of the track “Sweet Side of Love” and that audio aired on October 2nd, but we saved the video just for this very occasion. "Sweet Side of Love" is a blissfully positive theme, about enjoying the intimacy of being in love. McCartney's performance was part of a six-hour marathon of exclusive World College Radio Day interviews and performances that also included UK-based indie rockers Shape of Water, English singer-songwriter Declan McKenna and many more.
These interviews (and performances) were entirely booked and conducted by students at WMSC-FM, who then shared the content with sister stations around the world for World College Radio Day 2020 in a brilliant collaborative effort, and living up to this year's WCRD theme "Global Solidarity Rocks"!
Our Morning Buzz crew continued to broadcast from home throughout the stay-at-home orders every morning, Monday through Friday. In reporting the daily heartbreaking news, they also made sure to find and interview guests that could shed light on the silver linings that the pandemic triggered, and share tips on how to stay positive. This mash-up of those interviews aired on World College Radio Day (WCRD) last Friday. The theme of this year's WCRD was "Global Solidarity Rocks" and the busy bees of the Morning Buzz put a spotlight on solidarity and positivity throughout the last seven months.

WMSC will lead the celebration of World College Radio Day on October 2. Anabella Poland, President of College Radio Day and General Manager of the station, recruited multi-platinum music icon Bret Michaels to serve as ambassador for the event. Poland’s team at WMSC got the opportunity to interview Michaels for the event’s broadcast.
