F. Paul Shields Jr. Scholarship - The College of the Arts, Montclair State University
F. Paul Shields Jr. (MFA '01) was a widely acclaimed exhibiting artist and soon to be faculty member in the MFA program at nearby Drew University at the time of his tragic passing. Paul was a deep scholar of the fine arts in addition to a practitioner. He was exhibiting his work throughout the country during his MFA and at the time of his passing. His work spanned media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, large scale installations, happenings and even jewelry making.
Paul was an extraordinary son, friend, classmate and mentor to many other students in the community. He is greatly missed, but his spirit inspires us to support the continued success of the Montclair State College of the Arts student body.
This scholarship is awarded annually to a superior graduate student in the College of the Arts.
