WMSC Excellence in Radio Scholarship & Training Fund - 2022

90.3 WMSC FM is an alternative rock and talk college radio station owned by Montclair State University, largely operated by university students and supported by the School of Communication and Media. The station broadcasts locally at 90.3 MHz, worldwide via their website, and is also available via the iHeartRadio app. WMSC continues to attract undergraduate students far and wide, with new students citing the radio station as the reason for choosing Montclair State University!

This year, WMSC has earned seventeen national awards including "Best Celebrity Interview" and "Best Show Promo", and has earned a fourth Marconi Award nomination for College Station of the Year.

There are currently 25 student directors and assistant directors who oversee the station’s operation in the areas of news, sports, music, production, promotions, ticket giveaways, website, social media, engineering, morning show production and office manager. The station currently has more than 75 disc-jockeys on air, almost 80 contributors, and over 712 general members, all volunteers.

Students who participate at WMSC have, as a result, obtained competitive internships and entry level jobs at SiriusXM, iHeartRadio, MLB Network, Sticher,CNN, ABC News, NBC News, Discovery, WCBS, Bloomberg Media, Yahoo Finance and Montclair Film Festival to name a few.

The WMSC Excellence in Radio Scholarship and Training Fund seeks to acknowledge and reward the hard work of undergraduate students who volunteer their time and efforts to the radio station and embody the hard work and spirit of Excellence in College Radio.

The WMSC Excellence in Radio Scholarship has been established to assist outstanding Montclair State University sophomore, junior, and senior students in defraying tuition costs and to afford them registration and access to industry training. The WMSC scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students who have demonstrated considerable achievement in the department and have significant potential for future creative development in the broadcast arts.
